New exemption/exemption system for venture companies, small and medium-sized enterprises, and sole proprietorships

Venture companies, startups, small and medium-sized enterprises, and sole proprietorships can receive the following reductions in patent stamp fees (actual costs).
The reduction application form has also been simplified, making the system easier for patent applicants (users) to use.
- Examination request fee: reduced to 1/3
- Patent fee: reduced to 1/3
- Small and medium-sized venture companies (corporations/individual business owners)
- A corporation that has been established less than 10 years and has a capital amount or total investment of 300 million yen or less
- Not controlled by a large company (a corporation other than a corporation with a capital amount or total investment of 300 million yen or less)
- If the company is not an in-house venture but is created by an individual with capital of 1 million yen, and the company has been established for less than 10 years, this almost always applies.
- Small businesses (corporations/sole proprietors)
- In the case of an individual, the number of employees is 20 or less (5 or less in the case of a person whose main business is a business belonging to the commercial or service industry)
- In the case of a corporation, the number of employees is 20 or less (or in the case of a person whose main business is a business in the commercial or service industry, 5 or less) and is not controlled by a large company
At our firm, our experts always check whether each client can receive a reduction or exemption (whether they meet the conditions for reduction or exemption), so there is no chance that we will fail to apply for a reduction or exemption.
If you just want to know whether your company can apply for a reduction or exemption, please feel free to contact us.
